Division of Clinical Research
The research activities of our Division encompass various aspects of fungal diseases, including diagnosis and treatment, the mechanism of infection and pathophysiology, clinical mycology, epidemiology and infection control in hospitals. As a core of clinical research centers of excellence for mycoses across the country, our dvision has constructed a close network with nationwide medical organizations and research institutes. We are also conducting research on the role of environmental fungi in chronic & unexplained disease such as disorders of pulmonary circulation and interstitial pneumonia. At the same time we are also in charge of clinical practice and consultations concerning mycoses in collaboration with Chiba University Hospital.
Research projects:
- Mechanism of infecion/host defence system in fugal infections, particularly in aspergillosis, and the pathophysiology of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis
- Endemic mycoses: the diagnostic methods and epidemiology
- Basidiomycosis by Schizophyllum commune: the diganosis and epidemiology
- Diagnosis of fungal infection by antigen/gene detection systems
- Treatment of mycoses: antifungal agents and new substances with antifungal activities
- Mechanism of unexplained intractable pulmonary diseases by environmental fungi: pulmonary arterial hypertension and interstitial pneumonia
The website of our division (in Japanese) is now updated . The site in English is under way.
